Cindy Shafer, MS, leads Affirming Texas Families Services (ATFS) as Executive Director, bringing nearly 30 years of experience in the faith-based nonprofit sector. Her career has been dedicated to mental health advocacy and serving the poor and vulnerable at both local and national levels. Cindy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Grove City College and a Master of Science in Professional Leadership & Nonprofit Management from Carlow University.

Trish serves as the Lead Counselor for Affirming Texas Families Services (ATFS), bringing over 20 years of experience in supporting victims of crime through counseling and advocacy. Her extensive background includes leadership roles as the director of two child advocacy centers in Texas and work as a counselor in a domestic violence shelter, as well as experience in her own private practice. Trish has also served as a forensic interviewer and a crime victims’ assistant, offering compassionate support and specialized services to those affected by trauma and violence.

Tonya is a licensed clinical social worker with over two decades of experience, having started her career in 2003. She is a Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner, as well as a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Equine-Assisted Therapist. Tonya is skilled in various therapeutic approaches, including behavioral therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, crisis intervention, play therapy, and systems therapy. She provides compassionate counseling to individuals, couples, and families, guiding them toward healing and resilience through diverse, evidence-based techniques.

As Education Specialist for Affirming Texas Families Services (ATFS), Courtney Shifflett is dedicated to supporting and empowering the communities we serve. Her role includes coordinating educational programs, organizing awareness events for victims of crime, and securing funding through grant writing to further ATFS’s mission. Through her work, Courtney helps provide vital resources and outreach in our rural service areas, ensuring that individuals affected by trauma have access to the support they need for healthier, safer lives.
